30 Dec - Counting the blessing till 30

30th of December 2018, and I have made a list of things I have achieved in 2018. Some are as normal for the world as they can be, the rest are my achievements. Proudly, I would look back at 2018 as a year, I did my best to make my life mean.
Dreams are still around the horizon. Some blessings are worth counting. Here are a few handful of them:
  • Paid back my education loan : Starting in 2011 to fund my education in IIM Indore, I had picked up a education loan of 1.3M INR. I had been paying installments since 2013 and taken time away from not paying it at all as well during my startup time. But, in 2018, and with consistent last 5 years, I have managed to repay the entire amount that I had picked up.
Apart I have also managed to amass a savings of 1.5M INR earned with Simility engagement and growing from there. I think, financially, 2018 was a boon. I have overcome all my previous worries and now, I can make a few choices which I would have been hesitant earlier.
  • First International Travel: Thanks to nature of my work at Simility, I had an opportunity to work with a client in Indonesia. For which, I had my first travel to Indonesia and then subsequently to Singapore. I am very certain, loads of them will happen in subsequent years but 2018 has been marked with the start of international travels.
  • Hosted 2 Couchsurfers: Been on Couchsurfing platform since, 2014, this was my first time to host a Couchsurfers from different countries. It was a great experience with Aakash's help, I could host a few of them to my place in Hyderabad. It is not easy but it is interesting and a learning experience to do the same.
Given a chance, I will do the same again in coming years of my life.
  • Certified as a Basic Mountaineer: After applying in 2016 and waiting for 2 years, I finally had my shot at attending a basic mountaineering course in Nehru Institute of Mountaineering, Uttarkashi. I could make time away from my work and could take this up. Earlier, I was able to travel to Spiti valley and Vipassana, but this was more monumental feet for me.
Now, I am a certified mountaineer and can take treks as well.
  • Started Drinking: First time in my life, in my 29-30th year, I started taking alcoholic drinks. I always knew I would enjoy them, but I started picking them up as well. Became used to buying liquor on international duty free airports and been consuming since. Thanks to India, I also had my shot at Cannabis - through eatables and smoking. It was a phenomenon to give myself in to these intoxicants.
  • My First Motorbike: This year, I also garnered the willingness to buy a bike. Now I am a proud owner of RE 500 Desert Storm. I have not used it much. But, I like it nonetheless.
These are the things, that I hold most close to my heart. I never started with a plan to do these things. But, this is where I am. Retrospectively, there are going to be some dreams/plans that I might have made for 2018, which I am certain I have not fulfilled. However, I emerge happy and winner knowing I have done all I have above.
